The largest modeling, simulation, & training conference IITSEC-2018 has been holded November 2018. We would like to share several observations from IITSEC-2018, that seems interesting to us.

First of all, it is VR/AR boom. Almost every company demonstrated simulation & training solutions based on VR (like HTC Vive, Oculus Rift) or AR (like Microsoft HoloLens, Magic Leap). However, these solutions are of a demonstration nature and they are not applied in industrial use yet. What will contribute to the introduction of VR solutions in the learning process, when and whether it really gives benefits to learning remain an open question.

Next, technologies are not a limiter in the learning and training processes. It is abundance of technologies available. There is much more value in business development, professional community and groups support to bring anything new to the market. A lot of legacy stuff is used by training and both trainers and trainees do not rush to give it up.

VR and AR seems to be claimed for maintenance training. It requires tactile sensation with some specific gloves or other hardware. We need to create appropriate content and tools for generating it. And finally new training scenarios required, that are natural in VR and AR.The question is it more economically advantageous to train using VR/AR, than in a standard master-apprentice mode? And if no, when this point in time will be reached?
